So we all dress up in green and walk around and say happy St. Patrick’s Day. But how many of us actually know what this holiday is really about. Not many. Before today I didn’t even know either. That’s why I’m going to let you know exactly why you’re walking around in green and eating the ohh-so scrumptious corn beef and cabbage dinner for St. Patrick’s Day. This holiday dates all the way back to 461 AD when the Christian missionary, St. Patrick died. St. Patrick lived an enslaved life from when he was captured at age 16 by Irish marauders. He turned to the deep Irish religion while he was a herder in Irish. He listened to his faith and escaped from his enslavement. For forty years he traveled around and taught his beliefs while struggling through poverty. Many legends have be created about St. Patrick. He has baptized thousands of people. The three-leaf- clover is a symbol for Holy Trinity. St. Patrick’s Day is celebrated in many countries throughout the world as a religious holiday. People have a beer, eat some good Irish food and watch the parades filled with green. Happy St. Patrick’s Day!!
