It was a chilly afternoon on Wednesday (4/6) as the Hopkins Academy Varsity baseball team hosted Greenfield. “It was a tid bit nipply, but I stayed warm by making a fire and  making s’mores with Nate in the outfield,” center fielder Jamie Garand says. Senior, Garrison Banas, started the game pitching and did a great job, striking out 14 with a no hitter, but asked to be taken out in the 6th inning. Filling in after Banas and ending the game was junior Aiden Barrett. Barrett pitched one inning and struck out three batters.

Eight grader, Evan Delaney, put the first numbers on the board with a big hit to right field in the second inning. Delaney nailed a double into the outfield scoring 3 runs and leaving the Hawks with a 4 run lead in the second inning. Next inning, Robby Cooke had a sac fly scoring one run, running up the score to a commanding lead of 5-0 that held for the rest of the game leaving Hopkins with their first win of the season.
