For a while, students in the 5 College area have been struggling to get to classes on time. The PVTA buses have always been on a schedule that doesn’t exactly benefit the students who need to travel to different campuses. On Tuesday, September 6th, 2011, there was an increase of service and faster arrival time between Smith and Mount Holyoke, Umass and Mount Holyoke and Hampshire and Smith. An addition of 12 new express buses have been added to the Smith and Mount Holyoke route; these buses will reduce travel time from over an hour to 30 minutes, making it easier to arrive for classes on time. Buses will also be timed to arrive 10 minutes before classes start and 10 minutes after classes end. Hampshire and Smith has arranged its schedule in order to have earlier morning buses leaving from Smith to Hampshire. By changing the bus schedules, it allows students to have more options for classes and take more advantage of the 5 Colleges.
