Have you found yourself continuously on the increasingly popular internet television network, Netflix, watching hours after hours of your favorite TV shows and movies? Are you scheduling your life around this growing addiction? Well, you’re not alone. As of this year, over 40 million members in a whopping 41 countries use Netflix to watch endless hours of TV ( where there are more than one billion hours available if you’ve got some extra time on your hands). Here at Netflix Addict Anonymous (NAA) we understand that the temptation to spend your life watching series after series of television shows cannot be tamed, but we can help. We look at this issue with a mission to feed your craving, rather than demolish it.
The first step to solving all your Netflix-based problems is to make it available everywhere possible. Your Wii and other game consoles are no longer for Mario Kart and Table Tennis, they’re for Netflix. Download this as soon as possible if you have not already. After this is done, it’s time to get the app. Luckily for us, it’s free. Purchase this on every device accessible for more on-the-go streaming. To take extra precautions consider having computers and laptops on hand for a quick episode or two (or ten).
After this step is completed, it’s time to make yourself comfortable. You must make the decision of where you are going to stream, whether it’s in your bed or lounging on the couch, in the bathtub or at the dining room table. Some binge-watching essentials include the following: a blanket or two for the cold hours of barely moving, a pillow, any type of food (preferably something that won’t run out quickly), a drink, a box of tissues for those tear-jerking episodes, pajamas to stay comfortable, and a blog to rant about your new obsessions. Once the necessary materials are gathered, your weekend is set.
Now you might be thinking, “Hmm what should I watch? There are so many choices!”. That’s where NAA comes in handy. It’s always a bright idea to start with the list of the top TV shows on Netflix: Friday Night Lights, Breaking Bad, House of Cards, Mad Men, Orange is the New Black, Pretty Little Liars, American Horror Story, 24, Arrested Development, and Lost. These ten, instant shows have all received ratings of 4.5 to 5 stars. My personal recommendations include Doctor Who, Torchwood, Supernatural, The Catherine Tate Show, 90210, Merlin, New Girl, Orange is the New Black, Lost, Gossip Girl, and Sherlock. Looking more on the movie side of things I suggest some basic must-sees; The Dictator, Struck By Lightning, The Breakfast Club, Grease, and Burlesque.
From here on, I leave you on your way, to discover your favorite genres and series, to become a true Netflix Addict. Just remember, you are never alone, there will always be blogs and extreme fans dedicated to The Doctor’s fez and Benedict Cumberbatch’s cheekbones. Just follow my few instructions and enjoy the ride.
