Rival Victory

The Saturday game against one of Hopkins’ rivals, Smith Academy, didn’t look too good at the start. Up until the 4th inning, the Hawks were down 2-0. Heads were not hanging, though. The Hawks kicked it into gear and got two runs in the 5th inning to tie up the game. With their blood pumping from getting the runs, the Hawks pulled through another 4 runs in the 7th to land a solid lead against the Smith Academy Falcons. Andrew ended the game and allowed no runs to be scored in the last inning to land Hopkins with a 6-2 win.

Hawks Starting Off Strong

It was a chilly afternoon on Wednesday (4/6) as the Hopkins Academy Varsity baseball team hosted Greenfield. “It was a tid bit nipply, but I stayed warm by making a fire and  making s’mores with Nate in the outfield,” center fielder Jamie Garand says. Senior, Garrison Banas, started the game pitching and did a great job, striking out 14 with a no hitter, but asked to be taken out in the 6th inning. Filling in after Banas and ending the game was junior Aiden Barrett. Barrett pitched one inning and struck out three batters.  Read the rest of this entry »

Noho Match-up

Last Thursday, Hopkins Academy’s varsity baseball team hosted the Northampton Blue Devils in a scrimmage. The game was played by having six outs each inning. After there had been three outs, the bases would be cleared. If there were any base runners left three new outs would be allowed. After those three, the teams would switch. At the end of the game, Hopkins Academy junior Chris Koch, was the Hawks only scored run. They lost 4-1. Read the rest of this entry »

The snow is melting and the flowers are blooming. For most people this means summer is coming, and it does, but for others, they are working hard and getting ready for the new baseball season. After having a successful year last season of winning league and entering the tournament strong, this year’s team has big shoes to fill. GO HAWKS!

The Hopkins Varsity girls basketball team ended their season with a record of 11-9 and are now moving on to the post season Division III tournament. Ending their season with a win against St. Joseph, 56-16, the girls are moving into the tournament as the 7th seed right behind Smith Academy, who they lost to by 2 points after going into overtime at Smith Academy. Playing in the first round, Hopkins girls will be playing Holyoke Catholic (10th seed) tonight, March 1st at 7pm. Tonight’s game will take place at Hopkins Academy, so come out and support our girls. Go Lady Hawks!
